The climate is tropical, and temperatures vary between the different elevations. The average temperature is about 47°F. There are four main seasons; a warm, wet season (November-March), a transitional season (March-May), a cool, dry winter (May-August), and a warm, dry season (August-November).
Also, there are many natural resources found in Zimbabwe. These natural resources are: coal, chromium ore, asbestos (a silicate mineral), gold, nickel, copper, iron, ore, vanadium (an element usually used for medicine), lithium, and tin. |
HEI (Human Environmental Interaction)- Mining and agriculture are both very important to Zimbabwe. The main minerals that are mined are coal, gold, silver, copper, nickel, platinum, tin, and clay. The main crops that are grown and exported are sugar, tea, coffee, cotton, and corn. They also grow tobacco, which has been grown in the country for over 100 years. No seafood is eaten in this country because it is not located next to a large body of water. Instead, they eat mainly corn, peanuts, beans, and butternut squash.
Movement- Zimbabwe exports to many different countries. Some of these countries include South Africa, the UK, the USA, and Germany. The main exports are cotton, tobacco, gold, clothing, and platinum. The main way of transporting their goods is through either plane or train. They also trade machines and other minerals.
Region- In Africa's regions, Zimbabwe is located in the South and Central region. However, there are a number of regions inside Zimbabwe, as shown to the left (click picture to enlarge). Some of these regions include Matabeleland North and South, Mashonaland, Midlands, and Masvingo. These regions have changed throughout the past. For example, Matabeleland used to be one region, but instead it is not North Matabeleland and South Matabeleland. Also, Zimbabwe used to be part of the Rhodesian region.
